Between the 15th -20th June, our Pad for Pad facilitator Harishini made the journey up to Balrampur district in Chattisgarh. The aim was to conduct some workshops using our ‘Make Your Own’ kit where the women and girls would get to make their own pads following on from an educational session. A friend and Eco Femme ambasador, Rajasi Kulkarni, helped out by conducting the sessions in Hindi.
In total, Harishini and Rajasi travelled to 4 different districts conducting 4 workshops with adolescent girls and 3 workshops with women, with all the workshops including pad making sessions. They found the groups of rural women to be very receptive, the acceptance level from them towards our pads and the overall sessions was great. The adolescent girls were very curious to know the components of the pads to make for themselves. Suromoni Boro, a PMRDF (Prime Minister’s rural development fellow) who works with the District Collector on developing Education facilities in the district coordinated the entire visit.
