This guide to period tracking apps was written on the day of Saraswati (or Ayudha) Puja, celebrated all across India. As the mythological story goes, on this day the Goddess Saraswati created powerful weapons to kill the demon ‘Magishasuran’. These weapons were then considered to be holy and people began to worship them. Today, this practice continues and people honour the tools of their profession during Saraswati Puja Festival… from hammers and nails all the way through to computers!
In this spirit, Eco Femme gives thanks for the “tools of the trade” and to Goddess Saraswati of Knowledge, by sharing our favourite period tracking apps used by our team.
Period Tracking Apps
Clue – Nikethana uses this App:
- “I have been using Clue for 6 months now and I’m quite happy with it. I like the design and aesthetics of the app – I particularly appreciate the lack of pink colour, flowers and butterflies! The app is very easy to use – minimal and functional. I like the detailed data it presents to me about my cycle. The only aspect I miss is that it does not display the current moon phases along with my cycle.”
Maya – Harishini & Jessamijn use this:
- Harishini: “Love this app! Period tracking has become much easier for me now. Pretty accurate predictions for bleeding time. I have been using it for almost 2 years, since it used to be called LoveCycles. With a little training data set for few days, it is able to predict exact mood and behavior for the day. Including predictions for mood changes & physical changes that really relieves a lot of anxiety.”
- Jessamijn says: “I just started with Maya and it’s design is cute, it is simple. It asks you what purpose (whether you want to follow your fertility, want to become pregnant, want to track your cycle and health…) you want to use it for, which I think is interesting. So far so good!”
My Days – Kalvi uses this App:
- “I have been using this app for nearly 1 year and half. I am very happy with it. I know the exact date of my ovulation and my menstruation. I am very satisfied with it. It helps to understand my body more than ever!”
Period Tracker – Laura and Celia use this App.
- Laura: “I’ve used this app for around 2 years now. My period started early after having my youngest son (despite breastfeeding!) and I wanted to see how regular my cycle would be post partum. This was the first app I found and tried but I found it so user friendly that I never tried another one. It has flowers appear when you are at your most fertile phase which is useful. It is a bit pink and girly! It has space for recording other notes, moods and when you have been intimate which is useful if you were trying to conceive.”
- Celia: “I’ve used this app for 1 and a half years. Before I never tracked my cycle, so now I’m more prepared! I now notice some changes in the week before my period starts (you can register physical changes in this app). It automatically predicts your period and cycle length. I’ve also learned my cycle is less regular than I thought!”
We hope this gives a useful guide to what apps are being used at Eco Femme Head Quarters.
